A detail of the Cathedral of the Savior on Blood, on the Griboyedov Canal embankment in St. Petersburg. Its ornate design revives the 17th century Russian Baroque. Built in 1883-1907 by architects Makarov and Parland on the site where revolutionary terrorists assassinated Emperor Alexander II in 1881.
